Returning from Tahoe
Scott and I returned home on December 30 after spending a
week in Tahoe with Scott's mom and sister Michelle. Our peaceful week in the
mountains left me feeling refreshed and renewed. I highly recommend a week
without email or internet access; it does wonders for the soul.
Our rented condo (RiverRun #19) was nestled in a forest of coniferous trees at
the base of Alpine Meadows. The above photo (which was deleted after I posted this) was taken from our living room
window; it shows the beautiful results of a wild wind and snow storm that left
us without power for an entire night, but also with a blanket of snow that
covered every needled bough throughout the entire Lake Tahoe Area.
The Truckee River, which rushed fervently day and
night, created a continual hum that drowned out all superfluous traffic sounds.
It was a magical week. We cross-country skied, snow-shoed, and read by the fire
(oh, and how can I possibly forget to mention the plethora of cookies
eaten, mostly by me?)
What a wonderful way to end 2006 and usher in the New Year!
Happy New Year to you! May your journey be rich, your joy abundant.
